Wear the right riding shoes

Choose secure footwear that meets your operator’s instructions. The Next Experience listing specifically asks for closed-toe shoes. Do not assume that footwear suitable for a pool is suitable for riding, walking on the activity course or using a zipline.

If you want water shoes for the cenote, think of them as a separate choice. Ask the operator whether your particular shoes are accepted for the riding segment. A clear answer before departure is better than needing to buy a replacement on arrival.

Take a small trail-and-water kit

Pack lightly enough that your belongings are easy to store. Check the locker arrangements and ask whether anything must remain in storage during the activities. Avoid carrying valuables you do not need for the day.

  • Clothes suitable for outdoor activity that you are comfortable getting dirty.
  • Swimwear, a towel and a dry change of clothes.
  • A bag to keep wet clothing separate for the return journey.
  • Sunglasses if appropriate for the activity and permitted by the guide.
  • Required identification, confirmation and any cash needed for extras or deposits.

Check phones and cameras before carrying them

The featured Extreme Adventure listing prohibits phones and cameras during adventure activities. The horseback combination also states phone restrictions. A photo package may be a separate purchase, so do not book on the assumption that you can record the ATV ride yourself.

Before leaving your accommodation, decide how you will access your confirmation and contact the operator while also following the activity’s storage rules. Save important instructions in a form you can retrieve easily before and after the course.

Ask about products used around the water

Follow the specific site’s instructions for sunscreen, insect repellent and rinsing before entering the cenote. A product marketed as biodegradable is not automatic permission to use it in every swimming location. Ask the guide where and when it is permitted.

Bring any personal essentials you need for comfort after swimming. Keep a dry layer for the transfer back and check whether towels or changing facilities are supplied before relying on them.

Before you leave your room

Read the latest pickup message, confirm the meeting place and allow time to be ready. Keep your booking reference and the operator’s contact route accessible. Check how any extra purchases and locker deposits can be paid.

Review the activity restrictions with everyone in your group. Packing well cannot make an unsuitable activity suitable, so settle questions about eligibility, equipment or participation with the operator in advance.

Useful questions

Can I wear water shoes for the entire tour?

Check with your operator. Water shoes that work for swimming may not meet the riding or zipline footwear requirement.

Can I use my phone on the ATV?

The featured Extreme Adventure listing says phones and cameras are not permitted during adventure activities. Review the exact tour’s rules before planning to film.
